Meet Dr. Waseem Mughal
Dr. Waseem Mughal earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree in 1996. After living in Dallas, he moved to Boston to complete his DMD degree at Boston University in 2002. Dr. Mughal practiced general dentistry in Boston for the next seven years, gaining a great deal of professional experience and technical expertise. During this time, he also discovered the importance of getting to know patients on a personal level, listening to their needs and goals to develop long-lasting relationships based on trust and communication.
Dr. Mughal believes that providing exceptional dentistry requires a life-long commitment to continuing education. To stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in dental technology and to better care for his patients’ oral health needs, he participates in numerous CE courses and conventions each year. He is certified to perform cosmetic and restorative procedures and has additional training in oral surgery and implant dentistry.
In 2008, Dr, Mughal was named one of the “Top Dentists in America” by the Consumer Research Council. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and a member and Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
Dr. Mughal opened Excel Dental Care in beautiful McKinney, Texas in early 2009. He and his lovely wife Afsheen, who grew up in Montreal, Canada, are enjoying the southern hospitality they have received from the wonderful people they have met. Dr. Mughal looks forward to getting to know you and your family, too!

Insurance & Payment
Our goal is to help remove financial barriers so our patients can receive the dental care they need and desire. Many patients have some type of dental insurance, and In the majority of cases, we are able and pleased to assist you in maximizing your benefits. At your first visit, we will ask you for current insurance information. We may ask you to confirm this information at subsequent visits, so we can remain up-to-date and fully informed to serve you. As a courtesy to you, we file all claim forms electronically, provide postage for special claims, and we track the claims as an obligation to you.
We are currently in-network with the following dental insurance plans: Aetna, Delta Dental, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Concordia, Ameritas, Principal Mutual, Humana, DenteMax, Guardian, Connection Dental, Cigna, Unicare, and MetLife. If your insurance is not listed here, please call our office about your plan.
We also offer flexible financing through CareCredit® for patients who qualify.

A Clean & Safe Office
Do you ever worry about cleanliness in dental offices? We understand your concern, and we go above and beyond the American Dental Association (ADA) and OSHA recommended standards for cleanliness and safety. We have a dedicated area with state-of-the-art sterilization technology, where every instrument is wrapped and disinfected before your visit. We also sanitize each room between patients and perform weekly spore testing with a third party infection control center. We worry about the cleanliness of our office so you’ll never have to.
