General Dental Care
At Excel Dental Care we emphasize preventive care because it allows us to diagnose problems early and utilize the most conservative treatment plan possible. Early diagnosis also reduces the amount of time and money you’ll need to spend on dental treatment in the future. Best of all, we have the technology to perform most procedures right in our office, so you won’t have to drive all over town to receive the dental treatment you need.

Dental Cleanings & Exams
During a routine cleaning, our hygienist removes plaque and tartar from the surfaces of your teeth. She also polishes your teeth and flosses them to test the condition of your gums. After your cleaning, Dr. Mughal will examine your teeth, occlusion (bite), and current restorations. He might also take x-rays to detect deep cavities, abscesses, and bone abnormalities that can go unnoticed during a visual exam.
Periodontal (Gum) Health
According to the American Academy of Periodontology, gum disease is the number one cause of tooth loss in adults over the age of 35. If your gums feel tender, look red and swollen, or bleed every time you floss, you could be at risk for gum disease. Untreated gum disease has been linked to an increased risk of stroke, heart attack and numerous other serious health problems, so it’s important to keep your gums healthy with biannual dental checkups and cleanings.

Root Canal Therapy
A root canal is a procedure in which the diseased root (pulp) is removed from an infected tooth in order to prevent further damage and relieve your pain. Symptoms of an infected root include severe toothaches, sensitivity, discoloration and upraised lesions on your gums. Though root canal therapy has a reputation for being painful, the toothaches caused by an infected root are usually more painful than the treatment. We offer a variety of pain management options that can alleviate any discomfort during treatment, including nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral sedation.
Root canal therapy is highly successful, and a tooth that has been restored with a root canal can last a lifetime. Especially when used in conjunction with a restoration (a crown or composite filling), no one will even notice a difference in your smile.
